Scouting is more than badges and meetings - it's a way of life. In Pack 86, we believe that the values our Scouts learn today wil shape the people they become tomorrow. The Scouting Way is a collection of the principles, promises, and practices that guide everything we do - from how we treat each other, to how we treat the world around us.
Whether your Scout is just starting their journey, or preparing to cross over into Boy Scouts, these timeless values are the foundation of everything we build together.
The Cub Scout Motto
"Do Your Best"
Simple. Powerful. Three words that say everything. We don't ask our Scouts to be perfect - we ask them to give everything they've got. Whether its earning a badge, helping a neighbor, or trying something new for the first time. doing your best is always enough.
The Cub Scout Slogan
"Do a Good Turn Daily"
A Good Turn is more than just a good deed — it's a habit of looking for ways to help others every single day. It doesn't have to be big. Holding a door, helping a classmate, picking up litter — these small acts of kindness add up to something much greater. Our Scouts are encouraged to make doing good a daily practice, not just something they do at pack meetings.
The Outdoor Code
"As an American, I will do my best to be clean in my outdoor manners, be careful with fire, be considerate in the outdoors, and be conservation-minded."
The Outdoor Code is a promise our Scouts make every time they step into nature. It reminds us that the trails, forests, and open spaces we enjoy are gifts — and that it's our responsibility to protect them for future generations. At Pack 86, we take this commitment seriously on every hike, campout, and outdoor adventure.
Leave No Trace
"Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints."
Leave No Trace is a set of seven principles that guide how we explore and enjoy the outdoors responsibly. Our Scouts practice these principles on every outdoor adventure:
Plan Ahead and Prepare — Know before you go. Proper planning keeps Scouts safe and minimizes impact on the environment.
Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces — Stick to established trails and campsites to protect fragile ecosystems.
Dispose of Waste Properly — Pack it in, pack it out. Leave every outdoor space cleaner than you found it.
Leave What You Find — Rocks, plants, and natural objects belong in nature. Look, appreciate, and leave them where they are.
Minimize Campfire Impact — Use established fire rings, keep fires small, and always make sure fires are completely out before leaving.
Respect Wildlife — Observe animals from a distance and never feed or disturb them.
Be Considerate of Other Visitors — Share the trail, keep noise levels down, and make sure everyone can enjoy the outdoors.
